Dressing as a superhero is the imaginary game all boys enjoy playing at a young age. Superman is one of their favorite heroes. That infamous blue spandex costume with the large yellow and red "S" ? with the long, flowing red cape is worn in imaginary play year round. So, why not throw your child a Superman party for his next birthday? Before you party begins, you will need to purchase items like plates, napkins, silverware, decorations, invitations, and thank you notes. You can find thematic supplies for your Superman party at a local party supply store or online. If you decide to order from an online supplier, make sure to give yourself plenty of time for shipping. Another big item at your Superman party will be the specialty cake. Make sure to visit your local bakery or grocer at least a week in advance to order the cake in the design you and your child prefer. When you pick up the cake, do so the day before or the day of the party, making sure you have room to keep it refrigerated. If you don't and the weather is hot, you may end up with a ruined cake due to melted icing. Party games at a Superman party will be a big hit! Why not have "Bob for Kryptonite" ? (green apples instead of the traditional red apples) or "Superman Says" ? (instead of the traditional Simon)? You can also play something like "Musical Chairs" ? to music from one of the Superman Movies or the animated series or have the kids guess how many pieces of kryptonite (green jellybeans) are in a jar. Last, you can do an activity where the kids will decorate an "S" ? shaped cookie. Bake some plain sugar cookies cut out in the shape of the "S" ? symbol on his costume. Buy various icings and sprinkles and your kids will have a fun treat while they watch a Superman cartoon. There are so many ideas for a Superman party! Just be sure to plan ahead, so your party will not be rushed and it will be an enjoyable event instead of a stressful one. |
