Ceiling Fans are Really Cool

Ceiling fans are one on the best inventions man has ever made! One of the best ways to save money especially if you live in a warm climate is to purchase a ceiling fan. It doesn't matter what time of the year. It is always good to have air movement inside your home and in summer, you can even relax your air conditioner a couple of degrees to save on those summertime electric cooling bills. Ceiling fans come in handy to not only to cool you, but to save you 10 to 40% on your electric bill in the summer. They will also pay for themselves over one or two seasons! A ceiling fan won't lower the temperature in a room, but just circulates the air and makes you feel at least 5 cooler.

Your ceiling fan can be set to rotate in different directions. Make sure your ceiling fan blades are rotating counterclockwise for the best cooling effect. When they rotate in this direction they will cause a downdraft from the ceiling. If you are building a new home, it is much cheaper to have the rooms wired for ceiling fans at the outset, rather than pay an electrician to wire your home later. Ceiling fans can be purchased to fit almost any decor and there are many beautiful fans available on the market today. They are suitable for the kitchen, bedrooms, den or the family room. Some people prefer fans in all of the rooms and even outdoors on the deck or in the workshop.

Ceiling fans should be installed between seven and 9 feet from the floor. If you have cathedral or vaulted ceilings you can get extenders, which will help lower the fan. Don't install the fan any closer than 10 inches from the ceiling, as the blades need air to flow around them for proper circulation. Also, make sure that your ceiling fan blades are at least 18 inches from any wall.
