Gone are those days when we had reporters used to do fact checking and researching topics before making a statement or getting anything published. Because of this only media people have build trust among general public, but this very trait of 'holy grail' of journalism now seems to fade and losing its value, because of the urge to uncover a major story majority of the reporters are narrating either their own view point or just something which not be very important and also could be that might lead to controversies! Many times the information being printed is so abyss of any real fact that the source itself will promote a conflicting story in the same day or same week without even realizing it! Question that arises is that why reporters not indulge themselves in fact finding process? Internet and bloggers are threatening reporters, and so they are eager to break a story, that they routinely avoid the research and fact checking aspect of their job and simply just print whatever sounds controversial or interesting. Or it could be just the competitors threat that these reporters are so eager to print or tell anything and everything without understanding its consequences and implications! Threat to the nation It is commonly observed that our government is most vulnerable and is constantly attacked by the media for reasons good and bad! IT is hard to find out the motivation for this act: is it? Are reporters just trying a little too hard to be the next Woodward and/or Bernstein, or are they actually assisting in the promotion of an anti-Government agenda? Maybe it's a little bit of both One thing that is for sure is that any journalist, who helps promote a fallacy about our President, Government, or other authority figure, is doing serious damage to our Nation as a whole. To expose anything which is not right is fine rather that's what makes having freedom of information so great, but reporters should have an obligation to make sure it's true on all levels before reporting it. Consequences General public rely on the media for answers and if reporters give false information or the biased information then the consequences could be fatal also. If there is any narration about the event and the average reader is taking them to contain realistic information. Imagine what this does if said 'factual information' isn't really factual at all. What can be done? If believe anything and everything without verifying from relied sources then certainly we would not be the well wishers of our country as the best tool of destroying a super power is to 'divide and conquer.' It's the best war plan ever created. The question we must now ask ourselves is this Is the American media assisting our enemy in dividing us as a Nation? If so, are we allowing it? |
